Andrew Barkley
Lecturer
I was educated locally at Oswestry School , following which I read law at Staffordshire University . Having graduated with an LL.B(Hons) I then undertook a postgraduate course of study leading to an LL.M. During this time I taught on various undergraduate courses. Having completed the LPC in 1994, I joined the Crown Prosecution Service as a trainee solicitor in Shropshire . Upon qualifying in 1996 I took up a position as a Crown Prosecutor in Droitwich and prosecuted throughout Hereford and Worcester until my return to Shropshire in 1999. Shortly after my return I was seconded to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner where I undertook a review of prosecution policy as well setting up and establishing a prosecution team.
On my return to the CPS in 2001 I transferred to the Bar and was appointed Higher Court Advocate shortly after. I regularly prosecute a range of cases in the Crown Court. In addition to my CPS work I also prosecute for the Army both in the UK and abroad.
In any spare time I enjoy all aspects of country life – the good life!
